Great NY Times piece this AM on “Eco Kids” – maybe there is hope after all.
I spend a lot of my time educating children and families about eco health issues. Our new Whole Child Center is designed in a way to serve as a model for families interested in green living issues; building, nutrition, cleaning supplies, and so on. I wrote recently for the Deirdre Imus Environmental Center’s Newsletter about my Earth Day trip to my children’s school, and I’m so proud of my kids for their interest in the environment and how they talk to classmates about these issues. My daughter’s science fair project was about how penguins and polars bears are affected by global climate change, and my son has been involved in the “Planet Protectors” and Environmental Leadership Club activities for some time. I’d love to hear from you about your own children and their environmental interests/activities.
The story in the NYT today warmed my green heart – “Pint-Size Eco-Police, Making Parents Proud and Sometimes Crazy” – and made this parent proud and very happy.
Our next generation of leaders is getting it in a way we can only hope our current leaders do.
